Lower thermostat housing holes both stripped
Rebuilding the 230 in my 65 GMC. My old lower thermostat housing is in fine shape, EXCEPT both of the bolt holes are stripped. I previously had it held together by using longer bolts for the water outlet, and then just using nuts on the bottom end.
Do you think this is advisable long term? Seems like my options are 1. Run it as-is, using longer bolts and compressing it together that way 2. Tapping the existing lower housing with the next size up thread. 3. Continuing to try to find a housing for sale. Can't find one at Napa, O'Reilly, Rock Auto, or Amazon.
