Second dome light

Has anyone added a second dome light in the rear area? My Burb has one mounted to the rear a/c housing. It's the large round RV style you see in the lighting section of a parts store (not real cool). I'd like to replace it with an original style dome light, but it would require cutting a hole in the a/c housing as the light is raised in the middle. Any opinions (don't cut, go for it, etc.)?
