exhausting questions

anyone out there have any experience with hedeman xstream headers? are they full length or shorties? guys at parts store can only look at the pictures, and that is a car header.

also, flowmaster, dynomax, ultraflow - which has the most mellow tone? was thinking flowmaster bigblock 70 series or similar. with a stock 1995 350, my truck is no race machine, and i don't want it to sound that way. have true duals now, but just the other day the drivers pipe rotted off just behind the muffler. not all the way, just a giant, spiral hole. sounds like a horrific exhaust leak ( i guess it is, really), but i cant stand it. because i work at night - 14 hour shifts - i havent cut it off yet, will do this weekend.

thinking of going with a 3" single instead of the 2.25 duals. i guess i just like to be different. i dont like the uneven exhaust pulse of the true duals, and a crossover looks like a pain in the butt with the t-case in the way. any opinions out there?

as for bolt on kits, i cant seem to find much in the way of 1972, but lots for late model stuff. my dad thinks that would be the way to go, a late model bolt on instead of exhaust shop. he owns a body shop, so welders, torches, lift, and other tools are at hand. anyone tackled a project like that?

thanks for your help!
