Pics of Hickey hood hinge mounting

I bought a Hickey style drop center hood from Autofab for my Blazer Chalet. They have 2 options, one with 4 corner hood pins and one with hood hinge braces that you have to pay extra for. I got the one with braces so I don't have to take the hood off all the time. When the hood arrived it was unclear how it was supposed to mount to the hinge. After talking to them they said to cut a slit and hole and slip a speed nut in it. To me this does not seem like it would be very strong. I know the springs need to be taken off the hinge but it still doesn't seem right.

Can anyone post a pic of how the original hoods were mounted? Would like to see the difference if any from a real Hickey hood.

Couple pics of the "hinge panel"
