C2500 Rear Brake Shoes
I am having a problem finding 2 1/2" x 12" rear shoes for my '67 C2500.
I went to NAPA yesterday and picked up their shoes. I set about replacing them today and this is what I found. The linings , leading and trailing, measure 10" top to bottom. The lining location is staggered for the leading shoe, but the linings are way shorter than the old linings. The lining on old shoes measure 11 1/4" for the leading shoe and 12 3/4" for the trailing shoe. The new shoes have a full 4" shorter lining contact area than the old shoes. NAPA says they now have only one part no. for the 12" shoes. FT-419r. I looked at the web pages for all the local auto parts. Strangely, all their part numbers are a variation of NAPA's 419 number. I called all of them and they don't have the shoes in stock so I can't check the lining without ordering first. One local independent says he can order Raybestos. Raybestos web page has a image, showing full length lining, but it could be a generic photo. Has anyone bought 3/4 ton rear linings lately and what did you get?
