Elec/mech water pump again.
Hi guys and gals. They are shipping my Rencool stuff today so time to revisit this. IMHO, On electric pumps pro's, it controls the heat sink effect when you shut the engine off. My blown 292 is going to make a lot of heat. I'm confident my cooling system is robust enough to handle it. Of course all that goes out the window when you turn it off. The electric system keeps cooling. The con's of electric are pretty much everything else. Mechanical pumps are cheep, available and dependable. What if I get a small 20 gpm electric remote mount pump such as Maziere WP136 and "T" it off the lower radiator outlet for supply and maybe a freeze plug for return? Tap it in somewhere? Can I plumb it into the water pump? Single or duel outlet on the pump? I was thinking hook it to the thermostat with manual override? I'm a little lost here. That would take care of the heat sink thing and could be used as an auxiliary system in extreme situations. I would still have the dependability of the mechanical pump. Thank you for any thoughts and advice.
