fuel lines / sending unit for 1970

I bought my 70 c10 in pieces. I'm having to put it all together without the luxury of being able to reference as to how it looked originally.

With that being said I have the original gas tank. the sending unit is in place in the tank but the previous owner obviously got impatient trying to disconnect the fuel line from the sending unit and twisted the SINGLE inlet to the sending unit all up into a twisted mess.

I've ordered a new set of 3/8" steel fuel lines. SADLY I called inline tube and the guy on the phone was unable to tell me what the end of the fuel line at the sending unit looked like... if it was either a threaded fitting or just a barb for a hose to slide onto. Pretty sad customer service. But I had already ordered it.

But my main question is..... while shopping for a sending unit I'm surprised to find out that none of my local parts stores can get without it being a "special order item" and even ROCK AUTO does not have a listing for a sending unit for my truck. WHY?

And in addition to that, when I find a single inlet fuel sending unit, its almost always 5/16" but I'm upgrading to 3/8" There are plenty of 3/8" sending units out there but they'll be DOUBLE INLET.

Can I buy a 2 inlet fuel sending unit and simply cap off the fuel return inlet? When I finally found a single inlet 3/8 sending unit the price happened to be much higher! HELP
