Spare Tire Options

So last week one day, I was being a little stupid leaving a parking lot trying to make a left turn. I stepped on the gas a little too hard, which swung my rear end around quicker than I thought and smacked into the curb, which sheared off a bit of one of my wheels. Feeling that it wasn't the best idea to drive the highway back home that night, someone drove an hour to bring me a spare wheel.

Which gets me to the point of my post: Has anyone tried fitting a donut tire inside their truck? I placed 69 camaro tank underneath my step side bed where the spare originally was, so that is out of the option. Are there any other places to hide a spare on a step side?

Here is a pic of the wheel after its run in with the curb....
