Similar in Maryland. You can go to jail for shooting someone that has broken into your house unless you can prove it was ABSOLUTE life or death. A while back (probably 10 years ago now) there was someone arrested for using a sword to defend his house against a burglar.

John Pontolillo. He killed the intruder. Looks like the decided he was justified 4 months later. Intruder was in and out of jail like 20+ times.
