Question HELP: 1983 1-Ton wiring

This is not for my truck. This is for a friends truck. I have not seen this truck in person only going off what I have been told.

1983 1-Ton 2wd w/ manual trans.
350 gas engine w/ 4BBL carb
Does have a.i.r. system (smog)
Does NOT have cats

Vin# 1GBHC34M8DVXXXXXX

There is a device (looks like relay) mounted on center of the drivers side valve cover. This device has 5-wires going to it and has 4-terminals on it. So two of the wires share a terminal. The plug fell apart and caused all kinds of problems. Truck wouldnt run, gauges dont work right (alt, temp, and oil) etc. Need to figure out what this device is and a wiring diagram to go with it.

Device is approx. 2" x 2" and it is metal. It has a tab coming off with one hole for mounting.

Two wires come from this device and go to a solenoid on front of the intake manifold. The wires going to this solenoid from the device are brown and yellow.

What is this device mounted on the drivers valve cover and can someone give me a wiring diagram for it.

Thanks.
