Filliing/Plugging the Gas Tank Hole on the Cab
I'm new to fabrication and welding, I'd just like to share my idea and hope it helps someone. Be easy on me.
I removed the tank from the cab and put in a "under bed" tank. I was left with a hole in the cab. I'm not a good enough welder to put a shave plate and I'm definitely too broke to paint after that. So I decided to modify a cap to seal the hole and, as a plus, retain the stock look. Here is the Video for those interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSJAcwcTjm0&t=8s And here is the tutorial for those that prefer pictures. Supplies: 4 inches of all thread and 2 matching nuts ... or bolt and nut. Gas Cap from auto part store Filler neck grommet Some thin metal for making a huge washer. Optional: peel and seal or equivalent Tools: Welder: Or epoxy, JB Weld, Etc. Something to cut metal: I used a cheap jigsaw and metal cutting blades Drill and drill bit slightly larger than thread width Get yourself a cap for under $10 at the local auto part store. Weld a nut on the inside of the cap. You can also use epoxy, JB Weld, or some other adhesive if you don't have a welder. Screw in some all thread and tack it so it wont spin off Or, you can just use a bolt instead of a nut and thread.
