Hood prop, no springs?

Anyone use a hood prop and discard the hinge springs? I don't think Ive ever seen this done here on the board. I wonder if it would help or hinder the folks that have the rear part of the hood that sticks up? I know there is a possible fix/adjustment for that.

Maybe the hood is just to large for this to be a thing? I have a set of NOS hinges, seems like a good way to have them last forever with no spring pressure.
