Trick for installing park brake cables?

Hey all,

I upgraded my brakes all around, and just got new park brake cables for my rears. Problem is, despite them connecting to the same point on the trailing arms, it feels like the overall cable is about 2" too short to reconnect.

Even after removing the cable from the adjuster rod on the driver's side near the transmission, it's simply too short for me to hook up the brake cable to the driver side disc hat, and still get the cable back into the adjuster rod.

If I put it into the adjuster rod again, then I can't physically get it close enough to the trailing arm bracket to hook it up.

Not sure what the hell to do lol. Anyone run into this?
