Tailgate/Liftgate Hinge

Hey guys. My Burb was previously Barn Door, but previous owner swapped to Tailgate (he had another burb and kept all the best parts, grille, door panels, barn doors). It looked like trash when I bought it, we reinforced it a bit and my paint/body guy "fixed it". He says the door closes, no problem, no scratching, but he's several hours away so I can't verify. This has to mess with clearance, doesn't it? Or would this fix actually work?? This green one was the only picture reference I really had and gave to the paint/body guy.
