Starter removal???

I've been trying to take the starter out of my 67. It has 3 bolts holding it in. I removed those and the damn thing barely budges. I had to fight with it and had gotten it to move forward maybe a quarter inch and it won't move anymore. I didn't remove the wires because they are a bastard to get to. I figured that I would drop the starter and then remove the wires. It isn't the wires that are making it difficult to remove, is it?. I figured that they would have a decent amount of slack in them so that I could move the starter forward. My brother in law says that it might have a bracket holding it in but I really don't see anything else mounted to the starter. I may have to take another long look at it.
I've removed starters before with great ease but I just can't figure this one out. Does anyone have suggestions? Maybe even some pics where a bracket might be mounted.
If it helps it is a 327 motor.

Thanks in advance,

Larry.
