Question about windshield gasket..(pic)

Decided to have a local window shop install my windows. Go to pick up the truck today and here's how it was done. The sealant is like this all the way around. Is there any reason for the sealant to be outside the gasket like this? The guy that installed it was off today so I asked the manager and he was telling me about frame flex, kinetic energy, weep holes and how it would look better with time and wear etc.. They will be redoing it. Just seeing if anyone has seen one look like this before.
