Temp gauge Question

My temp gauge was not working, it would just stay past hot. I changed the temp sensor and I also made sure there was power going to the green wire. I bought a new temp gauge from LMC that showed the actual temp in numbers instead of just H or L. When I took the gauge cluster out I noticed the back of the temp gauge looks like it should have a wire to one of the studs that come out. But there wasn't. Then I read the power for the gauge actually comes from the circuit board. I tested the circuit board and noticed that there was not power to some of the light connections and of course where the temp gauge goes. I just purchased a new circuit board from LMC and should be here soon. I needed it anyway the original one was very weathered. SO my question is on the back of the temp gauge is there a wire that is suppose to be installed? or does it get the power from the circuit board? Thank you for any help. If it does get power from a wire I am assuming its just the green one that is already hooked up to the sensor. Thank you.
