Can different seats lean much further back?

Hi all. I've been driving my 87 chevy truck around again. Single cab. Maybe I'm just getting spoiled to the luxuries of these newer vehicles, but it doesn't seem like the seating is done very well in these old trucks. Mainly, you can't lean back enough. Or... at all. You're always stuck in this odd, almost pushed forward position. When it comes to your back.

I'm considering putting in some kind of newer bucket seats this summer. But I'm wondering if you actually gain any room to lean back. Does anyone know if you get to make use of those few extra inches to lean back, once you get rid of the bench seat? Or does it not really help much?
