Identify this part (possibly from A/C evap coil box)
I was taking my A/C evap coil out of my '72 C10 and found two of these laying on the frame rail just below the evap coil area right after I pulled the box apart and removed the coil. I have no idea where they came from or what they are. It's thin metal perhaps .020" or so. They do not have any engine bay type crud (grease and oil). They look galvanized with some corrosive pitting, but not really any dirt. This is how I found them. They look like they may have been inside the evap case. I've looked at the coil and case housing for any sort of 'imprint' shaped like this but see nothing.
I've looked at my build manual and don't see anything there. The service manual doesn't go much beyond the compressor rebuild. So, does this look familiar to anyone? I am ready to start putting things back together but don't want to start until I know where these guys came from. You should know that I've disassembled entire the front end to replace the radiator support and do panel repairs on the front sheet metal. It could be body shims that I hadn't seen because they were below the evap case. On a side note, if anyone knows a place to get quality gaskets for the heater/AC cases, I'd like to have some better quality bits than I've got in my current kit. They're pretty lame open cell foam. I tried Soff Seal but it seems they don't make a kit for us. Thanks for any help you can give. |
