Temp gauge went crazy..

I was driving the 93 chevy yesterday and I looked at the temp gague and it was going nuts.. bouncing all over the place.. It wasn't a smooth bounce, this thing was jumping so hard back and forth I swear the thing was going to break.. It even pegged itself a couple times.. The truck wasn't boiling over when I pulled over.. Seemed fine.. So I'm thinking it's an electical problem..

Next to the T stat under the hood there's a sensor on the top of the engine and from the same wiring harness there's 2 wires that don't go to anything.. Can someone snap a pic of their engine so I can find out where the wires go...
