paint stripping/smoothing/protecting

ok my D**n steering coloumn has made me look at other aspects as to (where ever she drops there is where she shall be buried j/k) but im looking for a cheap way to strip paint, remove rust, and smooth out what i remove and coat it where it wont rust again. ive got deep key marks in the fender, got dings in the bed where ive been drunk and swung at someone n missed n hit my truck. the door where the handle is pops in and out. im looking to strip the paint ,smooth the body, put a coat of something that will resist rust. the next phase after this will be the frame while most of the body is off, then custom wireing/brake lines/fuel lines/ n whatever else is down there. But my main question is whats gona be the bang for my buck for stripping paint and rust resistant coating? Thanks
