Transfer case shifter arm boot orientation - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I've seen this transfer case shifter boot installed two different ways and I'm trying to determine which way is correct.

With the big (thick) part at top of boot toward rear of the truck
Big thick part toward the front of the truck.

I believe it is supposed to go with the thicker part at the top of the boot facing rearward. I can't find any pictures to show that this is the right way. Pictures would be helpful too. Thanks.
