I sure thought it was a Dana44. The first Dana60 front axles I know of were the Dodge and IH with wide 5 lug pattern. I had a late-'60s Dodge with that axle but don't recall the u-bolt configuration. By then they were 8-lug. I remember it as being king pin closed knuckle. .Could it be the first ones were done same as the Dana44 until a later point, like when Ford and GM began using them ten or so years later. Like the NAPCO front axle being an adaptation of the rear end, could the first Dana60 fronts be similarly created?
