Accelerator Cable Length Help

Hi! I could use some help finding a new accelerator cable. I ordered one from Classic Parts and theirs is 21.5" long. The length between the throttle bracket and the firewall is 9.25".

My original cable is 20.5" long which seems to be accurate based on what I read on this forum, plus it fits in the truck and works. I want to replace it because it's a bit worn and eventually it will need to be replaced.

I can't find a 20.5" cable for the 71 C10 trucks anywhere. I am open to modifying the one I bought, but I don't want to destroy a $25 cable because I don't know what I am doing.

Does anyone know where I can purchase a 20.5" cable for these trucks? The 4x4 version is 18" so that won't work either.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

This is the current cable I have. The rubber is too damaged for me to mount it in the clip, but it is the right length. The 21.5" cable comes up 3/4" closer to the front.
