A flexplate tip I learned
I had what I thought was a cracked flexplate, started making very loud clanking noise so I took cover off and looked at everything even when running and couldn,t see no cracks. I knew I wouldn,t see any around the crank unless I took off the flexplate. I went for a second opinion at a tranny shop that I,ve dealt with before and has been in town for over 25 yrs. and is a fellow drag racer. Simple he said remove 3 bolts from torque convertor and slide it back and hit the flexplate with a wrench, If it tings is good if it makes a dull clunk is cracked. Worked for me, was the starter even thou I could not see anything. Saved me alot of work. Hope this helps. I never came across this tip while searching cracked flexplates
