Preventing future Rodent Damage in the Roof

It seems like 99.9% of us 60-66 owners have rusted roofs from clogged A-pillars that are stuffed with mice trash. Once the rust is repaired, is anyone doing anything to try to prevent future mice nesting up in the roof? I've seen the copper mesh used in homes to prevent mice intrusion...Im thinking of stuffing a little bit of it in the a and b pillars in the truck. I'm thinking this would still allow any moisture in the roof to drain out, while preventing the mice from getting in.
