Dropping steering column to access turn signal switch

So, I’ve already undone the 4 bolts on the bottom plate, that holds the steering wheel up and removed the parking brake cable but this only buys me an inch of working room.

Before I go and unbolt and detach everything under the sun, is there some particular items that need to be undone so I can get access to that one Phillips head bolt holding the turn signal switch in place?

The placement of this switch so frustrating.

1960 GMC 1000 series, 3 on the tree.

Thanks for any pointers.
