During WW2 my grandmother was one of those that worked part time for some govt agency going around snitching on those that didn't follow all the wartime rules just so. Sure fits the personality that I knew She would love to be around in 2020 helping to enforce the pandemic rules

The movies and TV (and books) were still fighting the war up until the mid-sixties and later. I can remember 12 o'clock High, Rat Patrol, Hogan's Heroes, and McHale's Navy. We went to see PT109 at a drive in, and also Operation Petticoat which I wish I could find on DVD or something. So WW2 was still a real thing for those of us born shortly after. Not to mention that a lot of other kids' dads had served in the war.

Years later when I met my biological father, I learned that he had trained as a paratrooper to invade Japan. He served in the occupation force instead.

Funny, when I was born the (un)Civil War wasn't much farther back than WW2 is today!
