Clutch pedal not returning

I recently replaced a clutch in my 1978 Chevy K-10 after doing so the clutch pedal would not return all the way, unless you physically reach down and pull it out with your hand. After some inspection I relized that the return spring that connects to the release fork was missing. I purchased another one, and attached it where it seemed to belong, but it still doesn't return all the way. I am stumped at this point and know that I can't use it for if I do i risk destroying the throw out bearing and then the clutch. So I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance
Riley
