Replacement Steering Column
Hey All,
My beloved truck (1960 C10 with manual steeting) has started to make some grinding noises in the column - sounds like the bearings may be going - I haven't been able to locate both of them for the 1960 MY and this column is missing turn signal components, horn contacts and used to be a column shift (since converted the the floor) Being junkyard challenged and without major fabrication tools, I am thinking about swapping in a new steering column, and I have questions for those of you that have done the swap. 1. does anybody have a preferred brand - I've heard good things about Ididit and Flaming River ( I also heard summit's house brand is Ididit produced?) 2. has anybody that has replaced their column - do you know / re-call what length you used? 3. has anybody kept the large diameter steering wheel on a new column? I want to keep manual steering at the moment. Thanks, Keith
