Can't have a fighter aircraft falling off the end of the ship, sploosh. I worked in the engine room, and in spite of all that noise I was able to sleep. Fatigue works wonders. I could sleep at the drop of a hat in those days, as one never gets enough sleep in some jobs, of which mine was one.
