Signs of a tranny about to go??
Well, i'm kinda worried about the TH350 in my truck. What are the signs it will make if it is about to go out? Sometimes, when the engine is cold, and i go to take off, it will slip for about one second, then catch and take off. Also, it takes it quite a while to go in reverse, i mean if i put the shifter to the R position, i have to wait a while for it to go in gear so i can back up. When i'm driving, with the throttle about 1/2 way down, it won't shift out of second gear until almost 4000 rpm, and the shift will take longer than it used to....as you can see im pretty worried about it. I checked the fluid, it is nice, red, and plenty full. Could it be the modulator causing it to shift so late? It only does it when i put the gas about 1/2 way down, the rest of the time it shifts fine. I changed the pan gasket about 5 months ago too, and all the fluid that was in the pan. I noticed that 2 valve body bolts were in the pan, so i put them back in. Should i be expecting to spend some money on a new tranny in the future? I may just go ahead and upgrade to a 700R4 if i'm gonna do that.....sigh...time for a bank loan :S.
