AC compressor chatter

I replaced a 1 year old AC compressor on my 72 c10 added the required PAG 46 oil, pulled a vacuum, verified no leaks, drew a vacuum for 1.5 hours more then added R134, at one point my scale got stuck and I ended up adding about a 1/2 lb more of R134 then I should have.

While loading the R134 all went smoothly. when I went to drive the care with the AC on it started squealing loudly so i shut off the AC and when I got home checked and the Compressor is intermittently locking up.

Could it just be that the compressor is bad or is the extra R134 the issue?
