installing the chrome divider strip on cab

I have got to drill the holes for the tabs that will hold the chrome divider strip between the top color and the body color. I need a little help as to what size holes and how far apart to drill them and how many I'll need.
And, do I drill them after body work and before paint?
Someone had a diagram that answered all my questions (well, almost all), but I can't find it.
And, while I'm on the subject of drilling holes for chrome. I have complete side chrome that has to be mounted and I'm a little leary of getting those holes in the right place and centered.
As, always, any and all advice and instructions is greatly appreciated....Thanks in advance!
