Yeah, good plan. Fix the link, check the fluid. Try it again. If the fluid was foamed up it should have settled by Monday. Another thing to check is if it has the correct dipstick length.
If it simply has a rubber tube instead of a cooler, for start up or mock up whatever, you can possibly pull one end of the tube off and maybe install another short tube on the other pipe. Run those into a bucket and do a quick start up to see if the trans is pumping fluid.one of those lines should spew the other will be the return line. Good to mark the line that spews so you can connect the cooler properly as far as in/out.
I would try the start up/fluid level check first though. Possibly it was just really low or full of bubbles that dont work well in a hydraulic scenario. Like air in a brake line, it doesnt apply pressure well.
