Need help with some redneck engineering
Finally got my '64 on the road after a few years and noticed some vibration when first moving forward. I knew exactly what it was and realized I'd forgotten to address it. One of the previous owners swapped in a different, I assume, 2-piece drive shaft and "engineered" a horrible mount for the carrier bearing support. See the pictures for this abomination. 🤦*♂️ If they would have used angle iron it may have worked, but the flat steel bar just flexes up and down.
I'm trying to work with what I got and was thinking of buying some wide angle iron, welding it to the frame, the drilling holes for the carrier bearing.
Any other ideas?
