Throttle linkage question

I just put a 4bbl intake/carb on my Apache’s 283 engine. I feel that the gas pedal doesn’t have a lot of travel with the thickness of insulation and rubber floor mat.
Has anyone added length to the rod under the gas pedal for this? Im thinking this would help to give me more travel and a better throttle response. I just need an extra rod to have just in case I screw this one up and to return to stock. Does anyone sell this part without the rest of the throttle linkage ? Thanks
