Some Mid 80s 305 Engine Info

For those who may be interested, I picked up an 87 truck that had the original 305 engine in it that appears to be stock. The truck caught fire at the fuel tank and is pretty much toast. I have a '66 truck that I intend to transplant the suspension, brakes, steering, etc into. I thought about using the 305 and the turbo 350c trans also but when I pulled the plugs, one of them was bent. I pulled the heads and found a burned up piston in no. 1 cylinder. The heads are in great shape and I have a good short block out of a third gen camaro so using it is still on the table.

Anyway, the engine has the original VIN identification number stamped on it which matches the truck's VIN and is standard bore. The guy I bought it from was the second owner and he said he owned it for years and didn't have any engine issues. All indications lead me to believe that the engine internals are original. This engine has dish pistons in it. I know some folks believe all later 305 engines in these trucks came with flat tops but... Again, this is just FYI.
