I can relate...had a GFI popping for no reason so I purchased a new one, no instructions or diagrams provided with it. Removed the old one (30+/- yrs old) making sure wires were separated L/R-U/D as removed. When I powered it back up.....nothing.
I noticed the new one had a little green LED power indicator light, got my Wiggy out found which was power in, long story short if I would have installed the new one inverted it would have worked the first time!
All's well now and the wifey is happy again.
