Abandon 1966 E-brake cabling??

In a 1966 C10 panel (which is the same as a C10 shortbed), I'm finishing installation of a 454 with Hooker Headers and all seems good until I look at the e-brake cable routing. It runs directly where the exhaust pipe (post collector) needs to go.

Short of abandoning the e-brake system or having it rub across the pipe (neither is acceptable), what have y'all done to make this work? Thx
