Six cylinder to V8 swap and the three speed manual trans

I’m exploring the possibility of swapping out my stock six cylinder block for a small block V8 in my ‘64 C10. A small block seems like a relatively easy, budget conscious swap. Two or three questions:
1) can I use my stock three on the tree manual trans, and if so, is it a matter of having the right bellhousing and it should all bolt up fine? I assume a new clutch would also be required?
2) were the brakes the same in the six vs the v8? FWIW my ‘64 is a stock, base model if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.
