Mechanical Throttle Linkage

We're about ready to bolt the Quadrajet (yep, I'm one of THOSE guys) on the '69. The carb is the one that came with the SB, '84 vintage.

The brackets, etc. that came with the engine are for a cable-type throttle, and we still have the linkage as pictured below in the truck (tied up out of the way in this pic). The linkage is left over from the I6 setup.

Who has done this hookup already, and what do you recommend? I'd prefer not to go to cable, if that's practical. We're talking straight throttle here - no trans kickdown, etc.

Thanks...SSOW
