El Camino inner tie rod for conversion question

I've seen a couple threads talking about this, and wanted to verify if it's accurate. While converting my 67 C20 to a C10, instead of using a 67 outer tie rod as an inner, and using a squarebody outer tie rod with the POL sleeve adapter in the middle, I could use a 75 ish El Camino inner tie rod and squarebody outer tie rod with a normal adjusting sleeve. Is this correct? It's just that simple? FYI, my C20 centerlink is from a manual steering setup if that makes a difference.
