I met a guy when I was in the Navy who grew up in Oklahoma. He told me that he and his friends would collect orphan baby skunks by picking them up by the tail so they didn't spray, and took them to the vet to be neutered and have the scent gland removed. He said that made real good indoor pets. Didn't have a reason to doubt him.

We rescued one after it's whole family became furry frisbees...like mentioned, descented/neutered. We named him "Freeway", and he made a very smart, loving pet for almost a decade.
