3 Port Regulator position Question

I am using a 3 port regulator. 1 in, 1 out, 1 return. I had it running a few months back on a port injected SBC. I ended up blowing something out on the back part of an injector fuel rail and burned things up pretty good. Exact fail point unknown. Getting to a point where I am now thinking about the regulator some. The regulator was about 24 to 30 inches from the rails. Duel fed and had a crossover for overkill. I am thinking of moving the regulator to a different location that will make the run about 60 inches to the rails. I see a lot of setup with the regulator very close or even on the end of the rail. Is there an issue running a regulator further away from the rails? Are there harmonic issues to be concerned with?
