1953 GMC Longbed resto help
Hi Guys i have a 1953 GMC Long bed of a friend here.. the truck was for a long time in paint jail and was completely disassembled.
After the usual bad experience of getting his project completed my friend asked me to help him out with putting it back together... Motor and trans are a 228 with a 3 on the tree GM 341 trans. the motor runs good after upgrading to HEI and now we fitting a CLIFFORD Intake/ Headers with Weber 38 carburetor. we facing a Column shift clearance issue, hitting the manifold... My friend is considering anyways a Floor shift conversion . I found that the Clutch linkage is fully missing... actually the linkage between the Clutch pedal engagement bracket, to the clutch fork linkage Is there a source to buy this bracket ? i also measured the distance and see no clearance issues, to use/build my own linkage with Heim joints to actually have adjustment. Further If converting to floor shifter which unit would you suggest there is several HURST units i was recommended the https://www.summitracing.com/parts/huu-3667271 which would need a linkage kit as well i assume this : https://www.summitracing.com/parts/huu-3670010 or the Hurst Indy https://www.holley.com/products/driv.../parts/5010016 Yes i have a bench seat and so it should clear the bench . Any insight and expereince will help Last edited by Sebambam; 01-05-2025 at 03:47 PM. |
