Hey guys I have a problem.i bought a 71 gmc as a doner truck the guy i bought it from bought it from bought it from a lady who’s husband passed when the truck was 60% done restored . The truck has a 454 & five speed he did a good job with the swap . The truck would not start When purchased starter issues when I pulled the starter the nose was broke off.my problem is I need to find out what rig the motor & tranny came from no pun intended. The previous owner said he got numbers off the block pad said as far as he could remember he thinks it was a late 80s Suburban or truck.when I went to find numbers on block their was no numbers. My question is their any other way to find out what Vehicle motor and Transmission came from. I need to get the correct starter.
