Timecapsule 1976 C30 Cheyenne with Service Bed and Alaskan Camper

Hi. I’ve been out of the square body game for over 35 years…I got into 67-72’s during that time and last summer, I sold my 69 C10 Ambulance a.k.a. “The Slambulance” and also sold my 70 C10 Patina truck a.k.a. “Ole Dirty Bastard”. I was without a classic truck for the first time in a long time, so I was in the market for something unique and two weeks ago, I found that something and was able to make a deal on it.

I found an absolute time capsule - 1976 C30 Cheyenne with a 10’ Halldon service bed and an Alaskan Camper.

Two owners
50,556 original miles
454, Turbo 400, 4:11 rear end
AC, PS, PB, Cruise control

The combo spent its first 40 years in Montana and then it went to S. Dakota where it was driven twice in the first two years (for a total of 500 miles) and then it sat for the last 6 years.

Though parked outside in S.Dakota, it remains rust free and amazingly solid. It has some surface patina that we can remove with good ole elbow grease and basic chemicals. There is no nothing beyond the surface rust on the truck at all. The floors and frame are like new.

I have only given it a quick wash so far, so I am excited to see how the original paint shines up with the patina removed and hitting it with a buffing wheel. The chrome is like new and just needs a good polish.

Though it has not been started for 6 years or so, we got the 454 to fire right up on a bottle. I still need to drop the tanks and clean the fuel system, but it shouldn’t be too bad.

For the first time since being mated together 48 years ago, we separated the truck from the Alaskan Camper last weekend… that will make it easier to work on the truck and get it all cleaned up.

I will treat the truck and camper as two separate projects. First, we will be going through the systems on the truck and getting it back on the road, and then I’ll tackle the camper. The camper is also a time capsule and untouched from new, but needs some work before we will mate the two back together and use it.

If interested, here is a link to a video I did on the search and find. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsRqvmt40Ak

I’m drawn to unique trucks and this solid square body fits the bill perfectly! It’s nice to be back in the square game.
