Rear Brake Questions

Hi guys,

I'm deep into a full rebuild of the brakes on my 69 C-20. New everything from the booster to the cylinders - lines, hoses, all of it. The fronts are rebuilt and everything went fine there. Got to the rears and the driver rear was all oily inside the drum when I took it off. I'm assuming that this is because the oil seal on the inside of the wheel hub failed. Can someone confirm that's the most likely cause? I know that oil can get around the threads on the axle bolts also, and plan to use thread sealant on those when they go back.

If it is the seal, can those be replaced without disturbing the preloaded bearings in the hub? It looks like they are on the outside and will just pop out with a seal puller.

Thanks! -Wes
