Re-painting license plates

All,

Years ago I purchased a set of 1955 Texas Truck License plates from a vendor
thinking I would run them on my truck at some point.

Well the time has come to restore them but I am a bit puzzle on a good way of doing that
and was wondering who here has done that and how did you do yours?

I had a paint store do a color match on my color and bought a small can to do the job.

Not sure how to do the letters and numbers after I strip and spray paint the plates?

Advice needed here please!!
